Life: Barbecoa, Jamie Oliver - New Change, London

Bank Holiday at Barbecoa. The perfect place to go get some delicious meat and a Bloody Mary. Maybe a Bourbon if that's your thing. Tom and I took a trip to the new place in town with the best view. St Paul's Cathedral you are one beautiful building!
The food is amazing, we shared the Lobster and Langoustine Cocktail and Devils Cornbread to start - highly recommend the cornbread, bit spicy and hugely addictive. For main we both went with Rump Steak and choose some sides to share. The portion sizes are generous meaning you don't really need a side each, and sharing is fine (and that's for two people who have a very Joey from Friends approach when it comes to food) We went with the Creamed Spinach and Beef Dripping Chips, both excellent accompaniments to what was an excellent steak. This isn't really the place to go if you are a veggie, although they do have some vegetarian options it's a bit of a carnivores dream. Adding Truffle Butter and Bearnaise sauce to the order, both of which were really tasty and gave that finishing touch to a delicious main. No room for pudding, although I've heard the brownies are the top choice.
If you love trying new beer, and enjoy a drop of bourbon then it's definitely worth a try, with an impressive drinks menu. My Bloody Mary top spot has a new entry, any Bloody Mary served with a rib and gherkin is a winner. I want to go back and try out the entire menu of Bloody Mary's - I'm a massive fan and they are my drink of choice.
The service was prompt and not too intrusive, the waiter recommended some beer options for Tom and was always there ready to clear an empty glass or deal with any requests we had. A couple of things worth mentioning, it's not the cheapest - but it's worth it. And they do add a 12.5% service charge, which does annoy me. I am more than happy to tip for good service, but I don't like it when it's added onto the bill - even if they do say it's 'optional' Let's face it, no one wants to be that person. I would have happily paid 12.5% of the bill, but when it's felt like you are made to, I'm not keen.
Hugely impressive, amazing view and we left feeling full and happy. I'd definitely go back, even if it was for another bloody wonderful Bloody Mary.
