Weekend Away: The Muddy Duck, Monkton Farleigh

It's Tom's birthday this week, so this weekend I took him for a birthday treat down in the West Country. I love planning trips and days out to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. It's just such a lovely way to not only treat the person celebrating but also do a bit of exploring and something a little exciting with your spare time.
We stayed at The Muddy Duck in Monkton Farleigh, a gorgeous little pub that has a few rooms ready to relax in. Our room was spacious, had a en suite bathroom (with separate bath for a soak!) and was gorgeously decorated.
We had some nibbles when we arrived, including the amazing belly pork and black pudding tempura. All washed down with the best Bloody Mary I have ever had. Saturday night we enjoyed a lovely meal at The Muddy Duck. I'm a big fan of local produce, and typical pub grub with a fancy twist. The Muddy Duck's menu is varied with a wide range of foods to try. And the bar stocks a whole host of beer, wines and spirits - ready to be recommended by the staff. Tom and I certainly took advantage of this - and I've learnt a slice of apple in your G&T is lovely.
Our room rate included breakfast, which we had brought up to the room. I love taking advantage of breakfast in bed, and it definitely helped set us up for a day spent in Bath (around 20 minutes from Monkton Farleigh)
Whether you want to go for a meal, or maybe treat yourself to a weekend away, I thoroughly recommend The Muddy Duck for a special treat. You can find all the details about eating or staying on their website.
