Event: Tribute Show London 2013

Sunday evening at the Novello Theatre in London was the stage for the Tribute Show 2013. The Tribute Show combined inspirational styling and education from five top stylists showcasing a variety of looks in twenty minute presentations. Talking us through the evening was industry great Robert Lobetta, along with Nicky Pop, editor and publisher of Tribu-te Magazine.
First up Mark Hayes spoke of his 'sartorial dandy' inspiration and showed the audience how to dress out a tonged curl to create a strong shape, finished with a scissor over comb section to jar against the soft feminine curl.
Next we had the very funny Zoe Irwin, who spoke of the hippy take on the Native American braid. I loved the 'festival look' she created and the hint of colour in the braid. Her second look was a take on 'disco frizz' and heralded back to Studio 54 and looked fantastic teased into huge, voluminous curls.
Then, my personal favourite of the evening, the very talented Johanna Cree Brown - introduced by Trevor Sorbie (I fangirled a bit - Trevor-bloody-Sorbie!) She created two looks, one taking inspiration from 'punk pins' This was be far my favourite presentation, it looked so striking and I loved the combination of candyfloss-esque lengths, mixed with hair woven and shaped with pins.
Tim Hartley definitely brought a cheeky, fun element to his presentation, combined with great technique and skill creating two sharp cuts, one in homage to Trevor Sorbie. I was really taken by his use of scissor over comb, and how blended the cuts were. Colouring was also perfect with icy blondes showing off the sharp angles perfectly.

Last but by no means least, Hooker & Young set out to show us why they are masters of long hair. Taking two glamorous looks, completing turning them around to show off their Avant Garde skills with lace cages and clips.
The Tribute Show had such a personal feel to it, and being part of the audience felt at times like you were having a one-one styling tutorial. All the stylists involved were comfortable and friendly - and you definitely picked up some of their enthusiasm for the the work created. Great night, big congratulations to all involved!
