HJ's Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year: Indira Schauwecker

Grosvenor House Hotel was full of the hair industries best last night, celebrating the HJ's British Hairdressing Awards 2012. There are nine regional categories, and six specialist categories for winners to pick up an award.
One of my favourite categories has to be the Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year, winner in 2011, and picking up the award  again with what can only be described as an out-of-this-world collection was Indira Schauwecker (TONI & GUY)
I love seeing Avant Garde collections as I find the work so intricate and creative. The detailing of Indira's collection was incredible, with the use of waves, twists and coils. To me, they conjure images of mystical beings and in a way, extraterrestrial-like shapes. To mould hair into these shapes show enormous talent and is definitely a form of art that should be recognised and celebrated.
Congratulation to all winners and finalists, a fantastic achievement for any stylist.
