I hate "the Rachel"

The last couple of days, papers have been quoting that Jennifer Anniston hated the infamous Rachel cut, given to her during the early series of Friends. She's given an interview to Allure magazine and is quoted to have said;
"I love Chris but he's the bane of my existence because
he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look.
'How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I've ever seen"

The cut that lots of us went to our hairdressers wanting, and that remains in the hair hall of fame, alongside the Diana, the Demi, and more recently the Pob, surely she didn't hate it? Was it that awful?

The layers suited her face, the colouring was great and it had bounce and texture most of us wanted but ended up with a shaggy mullet-esque monstrosity. It was an iconic cut of the 90's, Chris McMillan who still styles Anniston must be feeling a little deflated although I'm sure what he apparently get's paid for caring for Jen's locks will soften the blow!!

So thanks Jennifer Anniston and Chris McMillan for making me get my hair cut so I looked like a 14 year old going on 30!...when you thought it was a rubbish cut anyway. She does look stunning in Allure though - and I still wouldn't mind her hair.

Did you have the "Rachel", or have you ever copied a celeb style?

  1. Eeeek! I always hated that haircut, so sensible and grown-up and you're right, it made teenagers look like middle-aged women.
    I think that's one of the reasons I've got hairdressing-phobia, the way stylists would secretly slice vile layers into my hair. xxx
    PS Jennifer Anniston's only decent film role has to be The Good Girl, she really can act in that.

  2. Well I didn't have one but I fail to see how it can be classed as the ugliest haircut ever. Is she mad?

  3. I agree Alex, I think the ugliest cut ever seen was my mums attempt at a pixie crop on me when I was about 9!! :)

  4. I spent years trying to perfect that style! And really, is it bad? It's nothing ground breakingly exciting no, but on her it looked lovely. She is crazy! x

  5. Haha i think it's awful of her to say that. It just shows she's really big and doesn't think such a brash statement will dampen her career. I personally, adore the rachel. x hivennn.
