Conkers and Cheesecake...

Good afternoon lovely people!

Well the weather here has been absolutely poop (it rained ALL day Friday, didn't stop...at all) and I think it's safe to say winter is well and truly here. I've just taken Holly for a nice walk (she chases squirrels a lot!) and got soaked. Feel quite refreshed though.

I love winter, I love the winter crisp air, bonfires, warm stews and thick jumpers - oh and it's my birthday in November so that's always a reason to be cheerful. :)

I fancied making myself (and Andy if he's lucky and I don't scoff it all) a disgustingly naughty cheesecake, so Nigella to the rescue, and about an hour later, here it is, the chocolate and peanut butter cheesecake. Nom, nom. Sickly, over indulgent but heavenly. You know Hersheys butter cup things? It tastes like them...Anyone care for a slice?
I've also had the chance to do some conker collecting, we have a hollowed out tree root centrepiece that I love to fill with conkers in winter, pine cones look pretty good to. The mixture of colours look amazing I think, do you like it?
What have you been up to this weekend? Do you love winter, or are you a summer lover?

  3. That cheesecake looks amazing! I wish I could cook...it somehow seems a little less naughty when you go to the effort to make a cake yourself! x

  4. Oh the cake looks amazing! Care to share your recipe?

I experience a perpetual summer in my country, it's never too cold that I need to wear anything more than a t shirt (as opposed to a tank top). I wish I could experience autumn or a mild winter to know what it's like. I've experience a frigid cold winter in Shanghai before, the temperature was down to below 5 degrees Celcius and I almost died from the cold. I guess you're probably more used to it, but in Shanghai, the houses are somehow not very heated so going home wasn't really any comfort.

The centrepiece is gorgeous and I love the conkers in it - such amazing autumnal tones.

  9. Thanks everyone, think the cheesecake wouldn't last 5 mins in here! :) It's a Nigella recipe, but I can give you the recipe no problem.
Alex, calorie wise, off the chart...but I have salad for tea so counter balancing it!

Cheryl, I can't imagine not having the change in seasons, we know all about cold in the UK. Shanghai sounds like our chilly start to the year and I can imagine the houses not being well equipped to cope.
