What's your face shape?...

Ever read a magazine and seen a cut you love only to read the 'would suit' bit underneath and get baffled with heart, oval, sqaure or long?
You may have heard these terms bandied about the place, but not really known where you fit in which category....well let's sort that out. :)
I can't take full credit for this, I read it in one of my hairdressing mags and thought I'd share as it's BRILLIANT! Read on you beauitful lot, determine your face shape...

Step 1. Stand infront of a mirror with an old lippie or eyeliner.

Step 2. Concentrating on your face, outline this in the mirror with the lippie/eyeliner. Don't take into account your hair (scrape back into a ponytail or pin out the way to get a true shape) just your face (don't worry about your ears either-although that would make the result a bit funnier!)

Step 3. Stand back and take a look...does it look square, heart, oval?
That's it, done. Now you can relax, safe in the knowledge you'll never have a bad haircut again... :)

Sorry for crappy pics, just gives you an idea!
Odd shaped, but pretty oval!
From doing this I've figured out I have an oval shaped face. Which is pretty lucky as apparently it suits most styles....I think my bowl cut when I was about 8 would be a good case against but I'll let it slide.
What shape are you? Are you going to try out this technique?

  1. I'd love to see a photo of you with a bowl haircut, Kel. Great tip, I'm going to try it out and let you know.
That guy with the nose piercing sounds a right catch! xxx

  2. I don't know what I am. I would say oval but I have chubby cheeks so the oval would be bigger at the bottom haha

  3. It wasn't pretty! And my hair was pretty curly so I'm sure it was uneven...I looked amazing. :)

The guy was! hehe, all the girls were after him, I always wondered if he could fit other things in there, could be handy to have in the middle of a gig/festival etc xxx

  4. Haha, such a good tip! Although, I'm not convinced my face fits into any of those categories - is "circle" a face shape? Someone once said to me "I've just noticed how round your head is..." oh dear! x

  5. Ooh there are plenty of face shape options, heart, oval, long, round, square, I've even heard of triangle!
Louise, just had a little peek at your blog, I think your pretty face is more a square? xx

  8. Right, I've just done it and the mirror reveals that I look like The Scream by Edvard Munch. Um, skull shaped? Is that classed as heart shaped? Certainly sounds nicer anyway!

  10. I've tried doing this before but still couldn't work it out (says a lot for my steady hand when drawing on the mirror!) so I asked my hairdresser. Turns out I'm an oval too!
    *high fives* :) x
