New Hair...Purse full of pennies!

I've had Red hair for about 3 years now, I love it, sadly my hair doesn't.
And as I want my hair to grow and be healthy I need to RESPECT it.
*whooo what you want, baby I got it!*
Go on Aretha!

It's so high maintenance, it had to go. I've started dying my hair a light brown to blend with my roots, and today I went for it. I had some two lots of foils put in. A blonde, Loreal Majimeche, a purple tone, and Wella Koleston Chocolate Brown all over. The purple knocks out the Red tone if it comes through. If anyone out there is thinking of going blonde and is naturally (or dyed) quite dark I really rate Majimeche, much kinder than bleach and lifts the hair up to 5 shades.

The blonde is noticeable and bright, quite a change for me, but I really love it. The foils were arranged in a way that I can change my parting if I want. You can see different variations of the blonde which is great as it avoids a 'fake' look and blends nicely with my hair.

Here are some pics...first few are in artificial light, the others natural light.

Nothing really done to the cut, just my side fringe sorted, and a bit of bulk taken and the ends tidied. I'm growing my hair so the guy doing it, Paul, totally appreciated that fact and respected my hair and it's growing lengths.

The best thing about the whole thing... I didn't pay a bean for it. Not a penny. I modelled at a creative colour & cut day course at a local hair & beauty suppliers.
If you are on a budget and want to keep things cheap I can't recommend enough offering your services as a hair model. As long as you are aware of the plan and tell them directly what you DON'T want then you are guaranteed a brill new do, for nothing.
I knew Paul, the guy doing mine, he's a tutor who has trained at Toni & Guy and Sassoon and really understands hair. He gave me some great tips and advice for my future clients that I'm looking forward to passing on.

So what do you lovely lot think? Do you go brighter for summer? or are you a one colour girl?

  1. Utterly gorgeous colour, Kel! So shiney and fabulous. Well done for being brave.
Me, I'm all or nothing. White blonde or jet black, anything natural looks completely horrid.

  2. You look stunning, Kel. Your hair is so shiny and summery! And you look like you have a bit of a tan, which makes your hair all the more wonderful. Will definitely look into free hair colouring - what's not to love! x
